A Lush-ious Experience – review of my first ever products from Lush Cosmetics

Last month i visited Lush for the first time ever. I was searching for natural and chemical free products for my little one and I thought why not give it a try. Once i entered, I asked about products for kids, but the sales lady told me they didn’t have any except the bath bombs. I was about to leave, when I thought why not get something for myself?! I have a very problematic skin, so i am always reluctant to try something new on it, but this was natural and shouldn’t be that bad right?!

I used the products for a month and here i am going to review all of them. All views are solely my own and based on my experience with the product.

I got the following products:

Angels on bare skin (cleanser) – mainly containing Ground Almonds, Lavender Oil, Rose, Chamomile Blue Oil, Tagetes Oil and Lavender Flowers, this cleanser really sounds like angels on bare skin! It was very easy on my skin, cleansing and exfoliating at the same time. There was no irritation or tight feeling to the skin post use. I sometimes did not even need to use a mosturizer. However since it has an oily base, it lead to a lot of pimples on my face. I found that using my usual face wash prior to using it helped my skin and the breakouts. Another con was ease of usage. It has to be scooped out of the tub and most of the times you will have more in your hand (or nails) than you need, and once on the face, most of it may fall off into the basin (clogging up your pipes ? ). I am sure there must be a ways around this, but for now i will pass on it.

The comforter (bubble bar) – the main ingredient being black currant, this pink and white swirly bar is the fruity concoction it is promised to be. Although recommended to be used whole or in big chunks, i found that even crumbled into small pieces, it produced a lot of bubbles ( keeping my bubba happy for a longer time). Did i mention that the water turns a darling pink?! Yup a pinkanista’s (that’s me) dream come true! ?

Soak and float ( shampoo bar) – main ingredients are Cade Oil, Lavender Oil, Marigold Petals and Rose Petals. This one was the most promising of the lot that i got. But i am so sorry to say it was the most disappointing of all. I got it for my dermatitis prone scalp, but it did not help the condition and infact increased it a few notes. This was the first time i was using a shampoo bar and i had my doubts. Using it was really easy and it lathered up really well. Leaving the hair a tad bit oily but smelling good and feeling clean. I felt that although it was meant to be treatment for scaly itchy scalp, i had horrible bouts of itchiness few hours after use. The shop assistant did ask me to get an oil along with it for complete treatment so i am hoping that they work better together. One word of caution! Do get the shampoo bar tin if you get a shampoo bar, as i left mine on the side of the tub by mistake and later returned to find half of it had dissolved and run off into the drain while someone else took a shower!

Ro’s Argan body conditioner – this one is one of my permanent buys now! Primary ingredients are Glycerine (Glycerine), Brazil Nut Oil, Fair Trade Shea Butter, Rose Absolute, Rose Oil, Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter, Lemon Oil and Geranium Oil. It is meant to be used on the body after the shower gel/soap and washed off. It cuts down the need of body lotions ( yay for lazy people like me!). I found that it leaves the skin feeling extremely soft and smooth and the after smell is just amazing. With all those lovely ingredients piled up inside that tub, I literally drool everytime i open the tub in the shower. You have to smell it yourself to believe it!

Bubblegum and Mint julips lip scrub – made of Castor Sugar (Castor Sugar), Organic Jojoba Oil and Peppermint Oil for the mint julips and flavour for the bubblegum, these are lip scrubs that you want to have in your bag at all times. Not only does it feel good, it tastes good too (too birds one stone!)

Honey trap lip balm – a lip balm containing Oat Milk , Almond Oil, Beeswax , White Chocolate ( WHITE CHOCOLATE!!! ??) , Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Shea Butter , Honey, Organic Cold Pressed Wheatgerm Oil, Carnauba Wax , Peppermint Oil , Vanilla and Sweet Wild Orange Oil. The lip balm does it’s work well and smells amaze!

IMG_1198 Lush pot Hand and body lotion – i bought the tiny pot for myself to keep in my doctors coat pocket at all times. It is convinient, smells great and leaves skin feeling grand. What more do you need?!

Lastly as all products are made up of natural ingredients, and safe synthetics, my mind is at ease at all times that if the product is not benefiting me, it isn’t harming me either!

Lush is against testing on animals and none of it’s products have been tested on animals. Moreover they encourage recycling, and give you a free tub of face mask on return of every 5 empty tubs ( really looking forward to that one!). If all that was not enough Lush also hosts parties! Now that is one party i would love to have!

Even if you are not planning on going to buy any products, you should visit a Lush store just for the experience itself. The many sights, smells and tactile experiences will definitely lure you into treating yourself with ‘some’ of the products ?
